What is Wafer Paper?

Also known as rice paper, wafer paper is a must-have tool in every cake decorator’s kit. Made from potato starch, it’s:

Tips for Working With Wafer Paper:

• Make your own wafer paper glue: Soak shredded offcuts in water overnight for a smooth, thick adhesive. Store in the fridge and use it to attach petals, ruffles, butterflies, crinoline, or wafer lace.

• ❄️ Ensure a cool, non-sticky cake surface before applying metallic overlays or wafer prints with piping gel or wafer paper conditioner.

• To make the wafer paper topper stand:

  1. Place the topper face-down on a flat surface.

  2. Apply a touch of Crystal Candy Wafer Paper Conditioner or glue to the part of the topper.

  3. Place a wire on the glue and secure it with a small strip of wafer paper (like a plaster).

  4. Let dry briefly and insert into your cake for a standing effect!

• If your wafer paper becomes brittle, lightly spray it with a water and glycerine mixture to restore flexibility.
